What to Wear on Your First Date

The phrase “first impression is the last impression” hasn’t lost its value, even in the modern world. We have, certainly, become more casual in our day to day lives, especially when it comes to dressing. However, there are still certain days when we cannot compromise on our looks e.g. our very first date. Of course, it isn’t usually the first time you are seeing him/her, but you want to be impressive because it is an opportunity to forge a strong connection with your date.

Fashion keeps changing every now and then. What you wear isn’t as important as how you wear it i.e. your style. Not everyone can afford high street fashion brands, so no matter what you wear you should be able to pull it off, gracefully. This doesn’t mean that there aren’t any “dos” and “don’ts” for this special day. You should try wearing something you know looks good on you, in short, experimenting with yourself might not be a very good idea on your first date. Secondly, do not wear clothes that are inappropriate for the place you are going to e.g. if you are going to a café for some coffee, dressing up in a flashy, fancy dress is a bad idea. You should probably wear a pair of jeans and a decent, casual top (it should be trendy!). However, if you are going to a formal dinner, you should try wearing a more semi-formal outfit and pair it with stilettos (depending on the type of dress you are wearing). If you follow different fashion blogs and have access to various online clothing lines, you will know what’s the right shoe kind for a certain dress, or what’s the right kind of top for certain pants. Other than clothing, a little make up (subtle) and a nice perfume would do that trick.

Lastly, I would say that all these tips can make your life easier by helping you in decide what to wear and what not to wear, but these aren’t the only things contributing to the success of your first date. It is you, who are going to make it a memorable one, so wear your best outfit, but remember you will be the one adding style to it, the dress on its own is nothing!
